Article V Section 10 of the Society bylaws states "Trustees as such shall not receive any stated salaries for their services, but by resolution of the Board of Trustees may pay for expenses incur by any Trustee for the purpose of fulfilling their Trusteeship to the Corporation. Nothing herein contained shall be construed to preclude any Trustee from serving the corporation in any other capacity and receiving the compensation therefore unless prohibited by these by-laws.
A recent visit to the project site by the governor of the state of Oyo prompted him to say that "what is happening here will be a model for all of Nigeria". With that in mind it becomes very exciting to envision the broad impact that the Good Samaritan Society can have on the whole of Africa.
Our vision is to create mixed economic career opportunities for all, where a free, private enterprise system is the bedrock of employment opportunity and thus solves the basic economic problems of the society, such as joblessness, hoarding of goods, alleviation of poverty and reduction in social crime. Currently, over seventy people (70) that are engaged in employment at the Mission Center have greatly improved the economy of the community which has led to a reduction in crime and various social vices.
The Good Samaritan Society is established to improve among other things the lot of the Fiditi local community. We want to reach those people in the lower segment of the society, which the government cannot adequately, reach. There should be a sense of belonging for every member of the state irrespective of his/her religion or political affiliation. The society will go a step further by developing the rural area to a metropolitan suburb. Other effects on the state include:
1) Reducing the urban congestion by redirecting population growth in the city.
2) Reducing the problem of unemployment thereby getting rid of undesirable social vices in the state.
3) Generating more revenue for the state through visits to our tourist attraction centers.
4) By attracting other industries to our areas our state will continue to maintain its position as a pacesetter in rural development.
5) In general, it will stem the rural-urban migration. The Society is determined (with God helping us) to create an enabling environment where skills and talents can be fully developed. Our objective is to make the center one with an industrial and residential layout. We hope to attract other industry to Fiditi to spur its growth and development.
Within the first five years of operation, we hope to fully engage as many as two thousand people in various skills. This will reduce in no small measure, the problem of unemployment. By making this private initiative a model, we know that other small and medium scale industries will be willing to invest when there are infrastructure facilities that will serve as incentives to them.
We hope to bring to the center some of the foreign examination bodies that Nigerians spend a fortune to register with or have to travel far before writing the examination. By inviting these bodies to Nigeria, more people will have the opportunity of processing and writing the examination.
Other goals of this society include, but are not limited to, the following:
1) To organize a youth short term mission experience outreach for youths in the USA to share with youths in Nigeria. Along these lines, our vision for the year 2001 tagged "IMPACT 2001", over 100 people from the USA will be visiting Nigeria Oyo state in particular.
2) To build a new world through education that is based in Gods commandments for His children. Education both, formal and informal, forms the bedrock of growth and development in any society.
3) To bring peace and comfort to the soul and body of the sick through Modern Medical Health Care Services. Much attention is being placed on good health care that is available, affordable and within reach.
4) To educate and train children in a wholesome and God fearing environment, thereby getting rid of cultism and other social vices in our society.
5) To help the needy, individuals, groups, organizations and others as led by the Spirit of God. We will complement the governments actions by helping people in the society and thereby reduce the incidence of neglect.
6) To show the world that there is hope and life through obedience and by being a law abiding citizen.
7) We plan to include a fully developed music/computer education for Nigerian youth comparable to what is available in the United States of America.
